The “From a video” tool starts from a TikTok, YouTube or Instagram link. The app analyzes the video (scenes, lines, pacing, tone, characters, burned in text), then writes your version of it. Here you don’t write an idea: you choose what you keep and you provide what you replace. Paste the link in “Video link (TikTok, YouTube, Instagram)”. If the video was posted in several parts, click “+ Add the next part (video posted in several parts)” and paste the links in order, up to five. Your video will have one part per link, in the same order.
Choose a source whose appeal comes from the story or the structure (a hook, a twist, a rhythm), not from the person on camera. That is what carries over best.

“What to keep from the story?”

Three levels, from the most faithful to the freest:

What you replace

By default, characters, settings and voices are taken from the original video. Everything you provide takes priority:
  • Characters: describe them in “Characters” or add their images. They take the place of the source’s characters. See References and style.
  • Setting: the “Setting” field takes priority over the settings of the source video.
  • Style: “Keep the visual style of the video” is on by default. Turn it off to choose your own style in “Customize”.
  • Series: attach the video to a series and its characters and style play the parts.

Example

A source: a sketch where a customer tries to get a refund for an absurd item, in three increasingly wild follow ups.
Keep the three follow ups and the payoff. In “Characters”:
In “Setting”:

Common mistakes

  • Expecting an exact copy. Even with “Same story”, the lines are reworded. For an exact text, use Paste your script instead.
  • Pasting the parts in the wrong order. The order of the links is the order of the parts.
  • Choosing a length with “Same story”. It follows the source; it is normal that the setting is locked.
